Posted on March 30, 2017 at 10:34 AM by Kristy Bansemer

Are you looking for a place to hold your next party? You don’t need to leave the Derby city limits to find a great spot. The City of Derby has 13 parks at which you could host your family gathering, birthday party or other event.

At Madison Avenue Central Park, indoor options include two smaller rooms (Salon and Alcove) and The Pavilion (glass building by playground), while outdoor options include two covered shelters. These meeting spaces are great for birthday parties, baby showers, family events and more. Visit www.MeetInDerby.com to get more information.

At High Park, the Zimmerman Family Shelter High Park enclosed shelter
(located next to the south playground) and large open shelter (located next to north playground) are both available to rent. Call the Derby Recreation Center at 788-3781 to reserve your date. The Zimmerman Family Shelter is very popular, so plan ahead!

At the Derby Public Library, both the Community Room and Frank Fanning Conference Room are available seven days a week. Call the Library at 788-0760 for more information.

Summers at Rock River Rapids provide ample opportunities for birthday parties at the aquatic park as well as private park rentals in the evenings. Visit www.RockRiverRapids.com to learn more.

On a budget? The City has free open shelters at several parks around town. Garrett Park features a covered shelter, bathrooms, playground, walking path and ample open space. Hand Park has two covered shelters, bathrooms, basketball court, two sand volleyball courts, playground and horseshoe pits. English Park has two covered shelters, bathrooms, two playgrounds, a sand volleyball court and a t-ball field. Crane Park has a covered shelter, a playground and plenty of room to run around. These areas are first-come, first-served and need not be reserved.

Find more information about City parks at www.derbyweb.com/parks or call Derby Public Works at 788-0301. Enjoy your party in Derby!
