Spring Trifecta

Posted on April 21, 2017 at 9:50 AM by Kristy Bansemer

For the next three weekends (April 22-23, 29-30, and May 6-7), Derby-area builders will showcase six new homes during the Spring Parade of Homes sponsored by the Wichita Area Builders Association.

The Parade of Homes is a great time to explore new home options, ask questions, and see trends in new home designs. The homes are open from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday each weekend.
Parade of Homes
Would you consider inviting a family member or friend to explore Derby? While they’re in town, show them around. Parade-goers can visit the Derby Public Library, Derby Recreation Center, and Derby Historical Museum. I am proud of these three unique amenities in our growing community.

A trifecta of community events also occur during the parade. This Sunday, April 23, Spring Into Art will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Madison Avenue Central Park, 512 E. Madison Ave. This first-year event will feature art for sale, make-and-take art stations, live performances, food trucks, interactive art demonstrations, a farmers market preview and more. Even better, it’s free!

Next Sunday, April 30, the Derby Police and Fire Youth Open House takes place from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Derby Police Department, 229 N. Baltimore. Tour the police and fire stations, check out the equipment, have a snack and visit with officers and firefighters.

On Saturday, May 6, the Derby Farmers Market opens from 7 a.m. to noon at Madison Avenue Central Park (beautiful new location!). Find plenty of in-season, Kansas-grown produce along with an assortment of Kansas-made products.

The Parade of Homes isn’t just about finding a home, it’s about finding a community where you can thrive. Good things come in threes…for my money, I can’t think of a better deal than three weekends to explore Derby’s three events and three institutions that make Derby a community of choice in South Central Kansas.
