Join the city of Derby for its 9th Annual Derby BBQ Festival & Music Fest at High Park.

Join the city of Derby for its 9th Annual Smoke on the Plains Derby BBQ Festival & Music Fest at High Park. The Music Fest and carnival are new additions this year. 

Saturday, June 8
9 a.m. to 3 p.m. & 6 p.m. to 10 pm.
  • Live music by the Haymakers, a country, folk, and bluegrass band, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Security 1st Title Mainstage
  • Carnival: Noon to 5 p.m. & 6 to 10 p.m. ($25 wrist band or $3/ride ticket)
  • KCBS (Kansas City BBQ Society) Cook-off
  • Backyard BBQ Cook-off
  • People’s Choice Contest sponsored by Verus Bank a branch of Citizens Bank of Kansas and Creekstone Farms, 1-3 p.m.
    $5 for a tasting kit (sample eight, 1 oz samples of competition pulled pork)
  • Kids Corner with inflatables, face painters, Meet-a-Princess, 9 Square and other activities sponsored by the Derby Recreation Commission
  • Live performances by country band Morrison County from 6 to 7 p.m. and Mountain Deer Revival, a country rock/Americana band, from 7 to 10 p.m. on the Security 1st Title Mainstage
  • Food trucks
  • Derby Noon Lions Club Beer & Beverage Garden
  • Shaken or Stirred Bartending

Entry forms can be found at DerbyBBQ.com. Contest winners will receive cash prizes and ribbons.

On-site parking will be available June 6, 7 & 8. On June 8, please park in the grass parking accessible from Madison Ave. (east entrance). For ADA parking, enter the park using the James St. entrance.

Proceeds from this event benefit the McConnell Air Force Base Airman and Family Readiness Center. The City of Derby has donated $12,000 of proceeds from this event to the center over the last eight years.
