Beginning Nov. 1, the City of Derby will embark on a playground resurfacing project at four playgrounds. The two playgrounds at High Park, the playground at Garrett Park and a portion of the Madison Avenue Central Park playground will be resurfaced. With the success of quality artificial turf at Derby’s two newest playgrounds at Madison Avenue Central Park and Warren Riverview Park, the same turf will be used to improve the playgrounds included in these resurfacing projects. The first area of resurfacing will be at the north playground at High Park. The playground will close for repair on Nov. 1. Snow fencing will be placed around the playground and a sign will direct residents and visitors to other playground locations in the city.Over the next couple of months, a contractor will move from the High Park north playground, to the High Park south playground and then to the Garrett Park playground. The Madison Avenue Central Park turf will also be expanded around the splash pad. All playgrounds should be completed by the end of the year.Follow the City of Derby on Facebook (@DerbyKS) for playground project updates.
