COVID-19 update

Since mid-March, the City of Derby has altered the way it does business to minimize the spread of COVID-19. Derby City Hall, Welcome Center and Senior Center remain closed to the public. The only change on May 4 is the Derby Public Library drive thru will open. City staff continue to work normal business hours and are available to assist you via phone and email. 

Library
The Library drive-thru will re-open May 4. Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday thru Friday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday and closed Sunday.  

Rock River Rapids
Rock River Rapids is scheduled to be open June 1, if possible. There will be rules to enhance social distancing and extra cleaning and sanitizing. Capacity will be reduced and fewer people will be allowed in the pool at any given time.

Two slides will be closed and inner tubes will not be used. The concession stand will be closed, but vending machines will be available. Visit RockRiverRapids.com for the latest updates.

Parks
Playgrounds and public restrooms remain closed at City parks and schools.

Derby Dash
The Derby Dash continues to operate. A maximum of seven passengers is allowed at any given time. Call 788-DASH to reserve a ride.

July 4 Festivities
The City’s fireworks show is scheduled to take place at High Park on July 4 at 7 p.m. The Firecracker Run has been cancelled. The July 4 Parade and Party in the Park at Madison Avenue Central Park have not been determined at this time.

Water

  • To make a payment with a credit/debit card, call 788-1424 or visit DerbyKS.com/water.
  • Put checks/money orders in the water payment drop box outside City Hall.
  • Get forms for new water service at DerbyKS.com/water and email to utilitybilling@derbyweb.com.
  • You can also get a new service form inside the front doors of City Hall and return to our water payment drop box.
  • A new water customer portal launched in April that allows you to review your water usage on an hourly, daily or monthly basis. Learn more and register at DerbyKS.com/waterportal.

Permits, Licenses & Inspections

  • Applications are available inside the front doors of City Hall or at DerbyKS.com.
  • Email completed forms to permits@derbyweb.com or leave in the drop box in front of City Hall labeled “Water Payments Only.”
  • To pay using a credit/debit card, call 316-788-1519 or put a check in the water payment drop box.
  • Large plans can be left in the designated box inside the front doors of City Hall along with corresponding application and payment.
  • The City has implemented new procedures for inspection of new water heaters and heating/air conditioning systems in homes currently occupied. Contractors installing water heaters and HVAC equipment will be given instructions on how to submit a video of their installation so a City inspector does not need to enter the home. Inspections of new construction (unoccupied) will continue as normal.
