The City of Derby would like to update residents on city services that were closed in March to minimize the spread of COVID-19. Updates are as follows:
Playgrounds at City parks open May 22. Users are urged to follow CDC guidance on personal hygiene. Users should avoid touching their faces and wash their hands both before and after use. City staff do not clean outdoor playground equipment. Parental supervision is encouraged.
Playgrounds at elementary schools are also open again for public use. (Signs stating they are closed will be removed by Tuesday).
Park restrooms remain closed until the new cleaning plan is completed.
City Hall is now open by appointment only. Call 788-1519 for an appointment. The doors remain locked. Visitors with appointments are encouraged to wear face masks. City staff continue to work normal business hours, although many are working from home or altered hours to ensure proper social distancing in the building. Building permits, water payments and other needs can be managed over the phone or by dropping things off just inside the front door in the designated space. The Derby Senior Center and Welcome Center remain closed until further notice.
Derby Public Library will open its building June 1 for the limited hours of 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mon.-Fri. and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. The drive-thru re-opened May 4 and continues to be open these same hours.
Rock River Rapids is planning to open June 8. Detailed information will be released next week. Visit RockRiverRapids.com for the latest updates.
When dates are determined for future openings, announcements will be made.
