Derby Police & Firefighters Hold Youth Open House

Derby police and fire
The Youth Open House is a perfect opportunity to get to know your Derby police officers and firefighters. Derby police officers and firefighters invite you to attend their open house event on Sunday, April 30 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Derby Police Department, 229 N. Baltimore.

“We look forward to seeing you at our house,” said Robert Lee, Police Chief. “We encourage you to stop by to check out our buildings, equipment, and vehicles and ask questions you may have.”

Youth and family members can tour the police department and Fire Station #81, enjoy interactive displays, and talk with Derby police officers and firefighters to learn about career options in law enforcement, firefighting and emergency medical rescue. Snacks and drinks will be provided by Derby Walmart.

“We encourage you to come out and look at the equipment and talk with the public safety providers and ask questions about what to do in an emergency situation,” said Brad Smith, Fire Chief.

Special guests will include department mascots McGruff the Crime Dog, Daren the Lion, Sparky the Fire Dog and Pluggie the Fire Hydrant.

If you have questions, call the Derby Police Department at 788-1557.
