National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day: April 29

Drug Take Back logo
The Derby Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will hold a Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, April 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Derby Police Department, 229 N. Baltimore.

Residents are encouraged to drop off their expired, unwanted, or unused pharmaceutical controlled substances and other medications for destruction and proper disposal. Over-the-counter drugs and veterinary drugs will be accepted as well. Needles and inhalers will not be accepted.

You may dispose of medications in their original container with labels or you may remove the medication from its container and dispose of it directly in the disposal box. All materials will be incinerated so there are no privacy concerns.

The National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while educating the public about the potential for abuse and medications.

If you have questions, call the Derby Police Department at 788-1557.
