Buckner Construction Begins
June 2, 2009
Construction is set to begin on the Buckner Street and Meadowlark Boulevard intersection and the Buckner Street corridor from Meadowlark Boulevard to K-15 Highway.
Buckner and Meadowlark Intersection Project
Cornejo and Sons, Inc., is scheduled to begin work on the Buckner and Meadowlark intersection beginning June 15. The project will reconfigure the intersection to provide five lanes, including a dedicated left turn lane, in all directions. The intersection will function as a 4-way stop during construction with only one traffic lane provided in each direction. Motorists are encouraged to find other routes as delays are expected. Construction of the intersection is expected to be complete late this year.
Buckner Corridor Project
The reconstruction of Buckner Street between Meadowlark and K-15 is scheduled to begin in early July. The project will reconstruct the street to provide a dedicated left turn lane and a parking lane on the east side. One lane of traffic in each direction will be available to motorists with no turn lane. Construction is anticipated to be complete the first part of 2010.
Motorists are encouraged to find alternative routes during these construction projects. Nelson Drive provides access to most businesses on the west side of Buckner, and K-15 can be used in lieu of driving on Buckner.
