The Law Department represents the City, its elected officials and employees as they act in their official capacity. Drafting of all legal documents including contracts, deeds, easements, licenses, ordinances, resolutions and policies is a primary function of this department, along with conducting negotiations with adverse parties, adjudicating city ordinance violations and researching legal issues pertaining to public policy initiatives.

This department includes two functional areas: the city attorney and municipal court prosecution. Municipal Court Services are administered under the City Manager's office to ensure complementary adjudication and satisfaction of judgement.
