City of Derby News Release
Watering Restrictions Imposed by City of Wichita
July 11, 2008
Officials with the City of Wichita request that residential and business customers (this includes everyone in the city of Derby except those using well water) stop watering grass for the next week while a major mechanical repair is made at the Water Treatment Facility near downtown Wichita.
Emergency repairs are being made to one of the clarifiers, which help make the water suitable for drinking. This breakdown, combined with the repairs, has reduced the amount of water the system provides by more than half.
Residential and businesses owners in Derby can continue regular indoor water usage such as bathing, drinking, washing dishes, and washing clothes. The voluntary water restriction request is expected to end on Wednesday, July 16.
Public pools including Rock River Rapids will continue normal operations.
