Annual Gala Uncorked
February 25, 2017
7 to 10 p.m.
The Venue at Madison Avenue Central Park
512 E. Madison Ave.

Tickets are $50 each and are available at the Derby Welcome Center, online at www.derbycf.org, or from any Derby Community Foundation Board Member. Proceeds benefit the Derby Community Foundation's Community Enrichment Grant Program.

This annual gala is presented by the Derby Community Foundation. Guests will enjoy wine and beer tasting, find foods prepared by local caterers, fine chocolate, and a live and silent art auction. Attire is cocktail dress.

Arbor Day Celebration

April 2017 at 6 p.m.

The Parks and Urban Forestry Board sponsors an Arbor Day Celebration every April. The event features a presentation, touch a truck event with the city's large equipment, a chance to earn your Arbor Day Badge, free hot dogs and more! This fun, family event is free and open to the public. 


Citywide Garage Sale

May 2017

The annual CrimeStoppers of Derby citywide garage sale serves as the organization’s main fundraiser. Residents can register at most financial institutions in Derby. For $10 you get a yard sign and a listing on the garage sale map printed and distributed by The Derby Informer. For more information contact Linsey Cutsinger at 351-9900.

Kite Festival
May 2017
High Park

Kite clubs will showcase their skills and introduce you to the world of kite flying. Bring out your own kite and join in the fun with your family. The free 1-Mile Run/Walk will kickoff Derby Walks monthly community walks. The event will also feature mega kites, kite demos, kite making, face painting, a balloon artist, candy drop, DJ, concessions, booths and vendors.

Independence Day Parade
July 4 at 10 a.m.
Sponsored by the Derby VFW and American Legion
Parade Photos

The parade begins at Panther Stadium, proceeds west on Madison to Georgie, south on Georgie to Market, east on Market to Woodlawn, and ends at Panther Stadium.

Independence Day Celebration
July 4 at 7 p.m.
High Park, 2801 E. James

The City of Derby hosts an Independence Day Celebration at High Park. The event include music, ice cream social, kid's activities, and a fantastic fireworks display. The fun begins at 7 p.m. with fireworks around 9:30 p.m.

National Night Out
August 1, 2017
6 to 9 p.m.
Rock River Rapids, 1900 E. James

The city invites residents to Rock River Rapids for a free night of swimming and fun. The police and fire/rescue departments will have educational displays and there will be free ice cream and a bike rodeo.

City Tree Lighting

Come enjoy Derby's 11th annual Tree Lighting Event!  This year will be bigger and better at its new location. Come out for a great evening of kids activities and crafts, cookies, hot chocolate, and of course, Santa!  The event is free and open to the public.

Shop Derby
First weekend in December

Experience Shop Derby the first weekend in December. This event features unique retailers and restaurants, craft fairs, nativity displays, and a chance to win door prizes. Each business will hold a special promotion or discount this weekend.

    • Parade Route: Begins at Panther Stadium (Woodlawn & Madison), proceeds west on Madison to Georgie, south on Georgie to Market, east on Market back to rear entrance to middle school (Woodlawn & Market).

  • No Room at the Inn Nativity Displays
    • First weekend in December
    • St. Mary Catholic Church & School, 2300 E. Meadowlark
    • This event includes more than 300 nativity displays created around the world.
    • Build your own tin of your favorite cookies in the Cookie Walk. There are $6 and $10 tins available. 

  • Mistletoe Market
  • Winterfest Arts & Crafts Bazaar
    • First Saturday in December
    • Woodlawn United Methodist Church, 431 S. Woodlawn

  • Santa’s Village
    • First Sunday in December
    • Derby Public Library, 1600 E. Walnut Grove
    • This fun family event features pictures with Santa Claus, train displays, crafts, refreshments and more.

  • Drive-Thru Living Nativity
    • Second weekend in December from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
    • Madison Avenue United Methodist Church, 900 E. Madison Ave.
    • Free will donations will benefit missions and ministries.
