Hamilton Estates Homeowners exemplify the spirit of this award program by working together and conducting projects to engage residents and serve not only their neighborhood but the entire Derby community. 

Residents created a Little Free Library and stocked it with books.The homeowners installed benches so people can sit and enjoy their pond as well as landscaping to make the neighborhood more inviting. The HOA also has a history of scheduling social events to engage residents, like barbeques and holiday open houses. 

2021 marked the inaugural year for this new program to highlight and recognize a Derby “neighborhood” for the work being done by neighborhood leaders and residents.  A neighborhood may be nominated based on its projects or activities that create physical or social improvements to the neighborhood, build or enhance neighborhood cohesion, or improve the ability of a neighborhood organization to better serve its community.  The nomination may include the totality of a neighborhood's activities that have engaged the neighborhood and contributed to enhancing the sense of community within the neighborhood. This award will be presented annually, and the 2022 award nomination deadline will be September 30, 2022.  

Nomination forms for our 2022 “Neighborhood of the Year” will be available early in April, but now is the time to start thinking about who you will nominate.
