City of Derby Provides Notification of Data Security Incident

On January 14, 2023, the City discovered a computer network disruption that affected some systems. Upon discovery, the City immediately secured its network and engaged a third-party forensic firm to investigate the incident.

Recently, after a thorough investigation, the City confirmed that a limited amount of information may have been accessed in connection with this incident; however, there is no indication whatsoever that any information has been misused at this time or will be in the future. The type of information contained within the affected data included residents’ names, addresses, and personally identifiable information.

In an abundance of caution, the City is providing notice to potentially affected individuals via this posting. In response to the incident, the City has implemented additional security measures within its network and facilities. Although the City has no evidence of actual or attempted misuse of information as a result of this incident, individuals are encouraged to monitor their personal accounts and information for suspicious activity and to detect errors. The City has established a toll-free call center to answer questions about the incident and to address related concerns.  The call center is available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and can be reached at 833-753-4814. The call center will be available from March 16 to June 15, 2023. 

The privacy and protection of information is a top priority for the City, and we deeply regret any inconvenience or concern this incident may cause.
